This “Whole-Grain & Gluten-Free” stuffing can be made “ahead of time” or prepared the “day of” your Thanksgiving Celebration!
INGREDIENTS
• 1 container of Delish Kitch Gluten-Free Bread Crumbs purchase here
• ½ cup organic butter or organic olive oil
• 1 medium onion- chop fine
• 2 stalks celery- diced size of small pea
• ¼ cup chopped parsley
• 1 tablespoon dried rosemary (use fresh if available)
• 2 teaspoon sage (use fresh if available)
• 2 teaspoon thyme (use fresh if available)
• ¾ teaspoon sea salt or to taste?
• ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
• 2 cups chicken/vegetable broth
• 1 large egg
PREPARATION
• Melt butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat; add onions and celery. Stir often until the onions are soft and clear in colour, about 10 minutes. Add to bowl with bread crumbs; stir in herbs, salt, and pepper. Drizzle 1 cup of the broth onto the mixture and toss. Let stand until cool and the bread crumbs absorb the broth, about 10 minutes.
Make “AHEAD” Baking instructions:
• Preheat oven to 325°F (convection oven) or 350°F (conventional oven). Whisk 1 cup of broth and egg in a small bowl. Add to bread mixture; fold until thoroughly combined. Transfer to lightly greased 8” X 12” prepared baking dish, cover with foil, and bake 40-45 minutes. Note: the bread crumb mixture at this point is very wet!
• Uncover, let cool, cover and refrigerate up to three days in advance.
• When ready to serve, preheat oven to 325°F (convection oven) or 350°F (conventional oven). Place covered baking dish in oven and bake for 15 minutes, remove cover and bake additional 15-20 minutes until the bread crumbs are a golden colour and the liquid mixture is set.
Make the “DAY OF” instructions:
• Preheat oven to 325°F (convection oven) or 350°F (conventional oven). Whisk 1 cup of broth and egg in a small bowl. Add to bread mixture; fold until thoroughly combined. Transfer to lightly greased 8” X 12” prepared baking dish, cover with foil, and bake 45 minutes.
• Remove the foil and bake an additional 15-20 minutes until the bread crumbs are a golden colour and the liquid mixture is set.
